The recent reported outbreak of respiratory infections in the Chinese city of Wuhan has been identified as being caused by 2019-nCoV (2019 Novel Coronavirus).
The number of reports of infection has been rising quickly during January 2020, with 2798 confirmed cases at time of writing. The current assessment from the World Health Organisation (WHO) is that the risk of this event remains ‘very high’ in China, and ‘high’ at a regional and global level.
