We are proud to support the European Pressure Ulcer Panel (EPUAP
) by raising awareness of pressure ulcers.
A pressure ulcer is a localised injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue usually over a bony prominence, as a result of pressure, or pressure in combination with shear. A number of contributing or confounding factors are also associated with pressure ulcers; the significance of these factors is yet to be elucidated1.
Intersurgical provides two products that can help reduce the occurrence of pressure ulcers on the ear: the Intersurgical EcoLite™ adult oxygen mask and nasal cannulae with ear guards.
The Intersurgical EcoLite™ adult oxygen mask
features an extra chin section incorporating two integral seals, ensuring that the mask fits a wide range of face shapes. The mask's retaining elastic can be fitted either above or below the ears depending on the patient's face shape. In the preferred below ear position, it eliminates the discomfort and longer-term trauma created by elastic sitting on top of the patient's ears.
Our nasal cannulae with ear guards
is designed to prevent trauma to the patient's ears thanks to the soft silicone foam cushions, which are easily adjusted to provide a secure fit.
